It depends on how long you nurse a single cup. If you finish coffee in 15 minutes, the heat loss is negligible and a warmer is overkill. If you regularly work through a cup across 90+ minutes — meetings, deep work, reading — a warmer is the simplest way to keep coffee drinkable. Most plate warmers keep coffee drinkable for 2-3 hours. The Cosori — the most popular budget pick — holds drinkable temperature for about 90 minutes on the medium setting and is still lukewarm (not cold) at 3 hours. The Ember Mug 2 is a different category (a heated mug, not a plate) and maintains a precise target temperature between 120°F and 145°F for about 80 minutes per charge, or all day on its charging coaster.
